Research, education, projects, analytical, social and cultural work at the Higher School of Economics are all carried out in line with international academic and organizational standards. Our research and our innovative developments are known far beyond Russia’s borders. The Higher School of Economics is recognized by the global academic community as a university that is not only a leader in Russian education, but also a potential partner. We successfully cooperate with universities in the United States, Germany, Britain, China, Spain, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria and many other countries. Solid knowledge of English is an important prerequisite for admission and instruction at our university. In each educational programme, the number of hours for studying English is commensurate with the number of hours at language schools of universities. Moreover, every student, regardless of his or her educational programme, takes the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam in the second year of study. Only upon successful completion of this test students can advance to the next year. To enrol on the most of our education programmes the Unified National School Exam in English has to be passed as we should be sure that the freshmen have sufficient level of the language for using it as an instrument of professional competence.
Each educational programme provides for a number of special courses taught in English by foreign professors.
