The Volga State University of Water Transport is one of the leading Higher Education Institutions, its history spanning 89 years of glorious traditions.
Presently the University is a large educational complex spread territorially and comprised of the head institution, six affiliates and Nizhny Novgorod River Transport College named after Ivan Kulibin.
Water transport personnel training is carried out at all levels of professional education, with young professionals receiving instruction in the entire infrastructure of water transport including ships, ports, ship repair companies, educational institutions, science and research institutes and other industry divisions.
The continuity of the learning process implemented at the VSUWT academic complex enables students to transfer from secondary professional education to higher and post-graduate education (including qualification upgrade courses).
Presently the University is rightfully considered the leading transport institution of the Volga basin region. It has been rated so favourably due to the highly qualified professors’ and teaching staff and brand new technical equipment that makes up the learning material base. The University has numerous unique simulators at its disposal – they allow soon-to-be navigators, mechanical and electrical engineers, wireless operators and ecologists to master practical skills.
